Pain and Suffering
Lawyers learn to distinguish the events that happen in life from the way they react and respond to them. Situations, both professional and personal, that by their nature are difficult and challenging are distinguished from the ways in which lawyers identify with and get caught up in them, which often results in the unnecessary experience of destructive and afflictive emotions. Events that are discussed include: undesirable court decisions, challenging legal assignments, provocative and hostile actions by opposing counsel, and frustrating client interactions.
